He had a plan to rid the House of Lords of the teachings of the Church of England and replace it with those of the Catholic religion. He also wanted to replace the King who was of the Church of England faith with a Catholic King.

He was discovered about to set fire to the gun powder. He was taken to the Tower of london and both him and his co-conspirators were found guilty of treason and executed.

Today most people refer to November 5th as Bonfire Night, but it is formally refered to as Guy Fawkes Night. On this day it is a day of thanks with bonfires and fireworks.
